Position Objectives
- Architect and provide expert level support and strategy for the production Windows server environment.
- Maintain proactive performance monitoring of the environment utilizing specific monitoring tools.
- Play an active role in day-to-day support activities, administration, and projects associated with Windows infrastructure/applications.
- Maintain all Windows servers.
- Support a trading environment consisting of Windows 2016/2019/2022 servers and actively participate in planning and implementing new projects.
- Proactively monitor the virtual environment for capacity, stress, risk, and workload; take remediation steps as needed.
- Build and support Microsoft Failover clusters, including stretch clusters.
- Maintain the Windows environment in the Americas Region for all business lines.
- Interface with vendors and internal global teams to ensure environments conform to standards.
- Manage business continuity in relation to disaster recovery.
- Maintain high reliability, availability, and resiliency levels for systems.
- Provide 1st, 2nd, and 3rd level support for production environments.
- Perform proactive system performance monitoring and capacity management (using Geneos, Dynatrace, HP/Dell/IBM tools).
- Conduct system upgrades and mandatory security/OS patching.
- Liaise with application support teams to gather requirements, design, and deploy standard systems.
- Implement projects for all business lines.
- Participate in 24x7 on-call support rotation and perform weekend work as required.
- Perform daily health checks on all critical applications using monitoring tools or scripts.
- Follow change and incident management policies and procedures.
- Ensure systems are deployed consistent with group standards and best practices.
- Own incident and problem management issues, working with the team to resolve production problems.
- Adhere to group security practices within the environment.
- Maintain accurate and current system inventory.
- 10+ years of experience preferred.
- Expert knowledge of Windows OS (2022/2019/2016/2012) and enterprise components (Domains, DNS, Registries, DHCP/WINS).
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft cluster technologies and strategies (server clusters, network/component load balancing).
- Strong knowledge of Active Directory.
- Good knowledge of VMware vSphere and associated products (e.g., vCenter, SRM).
- Hyper-V knowledge a plus.
- Strong knowledge of performance management and capacity planning.
- Strong knowledge of SAN/EMC storage, including SRDF types.
- Strong knowledge of installing Windows Server 2016+ on standard hardware (HP/IBM/Dell including blade servers).
- Knowledge and experience with IIS, .NET; F5 knowledge a plus.
- Working knowledge of Dynatrace monitoring a plus.
- Solid networking knowledge (TCP/IP, SNMP, subnetting, routing).
- Knowledge of relational databases (Sybase, Oracle, SQL) and MQ Series.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Project management and documentation skills.
- Service-oriented, positive, committed, and enthusiastic team player.
- Proficient in English.
