Network Architect 100% Remote

The Department of Business & Professional Regulation's (Department) Information Technology Office (IT) requires a Network Architect to provide a variety of consulting services, including but not limited to: LAN/WLAN/WAN design, maintenance and support; network security consulting; general server IP consulting for Fiscal Year 2025-2026.

  1. The Network Architect will report to the Chief of Infrastructure and Operations.
  2. Contracted staff are required to act in a professional manner, and be courteous and respectful to department staff at all times.
  3. Contracted staff are required to attend all meetings, forums, seminars, webinars as requested by division management to provide expertise, analysis and/or evaluation. If undue circumstances (such as a family emergency) prevent contracted staff from attending, contracted staff will inform the department in a timely manner before the meeting. If contracted staff is unable to attend a required meeting, the department may require follow-up either orally or in writing as needed to obtain the contracted staff's input. Refusal to attend meetings as required may result in determination of breach of contract.
  4. This contract should not be regarded as an exclusive sales platform for the Vendor's products and services. Contracted staff are required to provide expert assistance in the procurement of resources in the most cost effective and efficient way, even if such procurement varies from the products and/or services offered by the Vendor. As Network Architect, the contracted staff is required to assist the department in implementing solutions selected by department management. If the contracted staff disagrees with the department's procurement or implementation decisions, the department reserves the right to require a written cost-benefit analysis or risk assessment from the contracted staff detailing the reasons for disagreement.

Staff recommendations put forth by the Vendor should have the following qualifications:

  • More than five (5) years working experience with Public-sector IT (Local, State, or Federal Government)
  • More than five (5) years working experience in the following disciplines:
    • LAN/WLAN/WAN design, implementation and support
    • Content Switches (Kemp, F5)
    • Design and Maintenance of Storage Area Networks (SANs)
    • Network Security to include ACLs, Firewall Policy, Proxy Policy and Mail Gateway management (Palo Alto NGFW, Cisco Ironports)
    • POTS, PRI and SIP Trunks
    • Cloud Networking and hybrid connectivity
  • Working experience implementing and supporting:
    • Cisco Collaboration stack (UCM, UCCX, Unity Connection)
    • Designing network resiliency (Disaster Recovery, High Availability)
    • Familiarity with application design and scripting
  • Soft Skills
    • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills under pressure
    • Effective collaboration with cross functional teams
    • Willingness to mentor through knowledge sharing and skill development Due to the nature of the work required, it is not always possible for the assigned tasks to be carried out during standard business hours. The Vendor and recommended staff should be able to support work on a flexible schedule (such as working during off hours), potentially to include holidays to support the goals of the Department.
