Job Title: IT Kubernetes Application Developer

Location: Jersey City, NJ (Onsite 3+ days/week)
Position Type: Full Time / Contract (W2 ONLY)
Duration: 12 Months (Potential for Extension / FTE Conversion)


Role Overview:

Join a high-impact engineering team responsible for the App Engine Core platform that delivers production-grade PaaS services across on-prem and cloud environments. We're seeking a passionate and experienced Kubernetes Application Developer / Systems Engineer who thrives in containerized ecosystems and brings deep understanding of Kubernetes, Linux systems, and cluster operations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, deploy, and manage Kubernetes clusters (on-prem and/or cloud-based).

  • Work on cluster lifecycle operations including scaling, upgrades, patching, and availability.

  • Collaborate across teams to enable Kubernetes platform integration with development pipelines, security, and infrastructure.

  • Manage CRDs, Operators, and Helm charts to automate application deployments.

  • Monitor and troubleshoot Kubernetes performance and container orchestration issues.

  • Implement and enforce security best practices across containerized environments.

  • Provide support for Elastic Spark, Red Hat OpenShift (if applicable), and related tools.


Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience working with Kubernetes.

  • Proficient with Custom Resource Definitions (CRDs), Kubernetes Operators, and cluster orchestration.

  • Strong expertise in Linux systems administration and troubleshooting.

  • Experience in managing cluster patching and upgrades.

  • Exposure to Elastic Spark, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring/logging tools.

  • Familiarity with OpenShift, and experience with at least one cloud platform (AWS/Google Cloud Platform/Azure) is a plus.

  • Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
