Your impact

We have an exciting opportunity for an Entry-level Electrical Engineer aligned with our Water Solution Center in Pensacola, FL. In this role, you will be a part of one of the largest water market delivery centers in the southern United States. You will support the water and wastewater facility designs for conventional and design-build projects ranging from $1M to over $250M in construction and support diverse projects around the region. With a strong backlog in both water treatment and wastewater treatment projects, there are unlimited opportunities to focus on the technologies and growth that you desire.

As an Entry-Level Electrical Engineer, you will work with a core group of engineers and designers on water and wastewater treatment designs and construction services support to deliver innovative solutions to challenging technical problems that our clients face. Through your pursuit to becoming a professional engineer, you will work collaboratively with our team to complete the following:

Understand and apply electrical codes, standards, and legislation.

Evaluation and selection of electrical systems and equipment such as Switchgear, Motor Control Center, Panelboards and Motors,

Development of electrical drawings, including one-line diagrams (SLD), equipment layout, grounding plans, and panelboard schedules.

Development of construction documents, including drawings and specifications

Calculate cable voltage drop, power load flows and system short circuit calculations

Calculate lighting levels and design ductbanks/panelboard schedules

Technical report writing

Construction services support

You will also use your technical skills to work with diverse, technical teams to deliver challenging projects while serving and developing clients across the United States and internationally. Jacobs has a strong technical water/wastewater treatment background, and you will have the opportunity to connect to and work with our technical experts across the company.

Here's what you'll need

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited school
  • Educational knowledge and a strong interest in power systems design.
  • Self-motivation, team-oriented work practices, strong data analysis skills, technical problem-solving ability, organizational skills, and the ability to effectively multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient skills with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Ideally, you'll also have:
  • Hold an NCEES Fundamental Engineers record, with the drive to obtain Professional licensure.
  • An internship in electrical engineering and project delivery experience with water, wastewater, and/or industrial treatment.
  • Knowledge of industrial equipment such as pumps and blowers, MCC, switchgear, transformers, and panelboards.
  • Knowledge of National Electric Code, NFPA 70
  • Interest in IEEE color books/3000 series
  • Desire to learn more about industrial design for water/wastewater treatment plants

The base salary range for this position is $58,656.00 to $80,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
