Mid-Level Multi-Skill Engineering Manager

The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team is seeking a knowledgeable Mid-Level Multi-Skill Engineering Manager to join our team in El Segundo, CA. You'll have the opportunity to manage the Launch Team, including the Launch Integrated Product Team Leads (IPTL), across all Government and Satellite programs for the site.

This manager will be responsible for the Launch Integrated Product Team (IPT) Subject Matter Experts for satellite process documentation related to launch-related activities and for the ensuring of common engineering processes. This position will also forecast resource needs and manage personnel, facilities, services, equipment, and tools to meet program launch campaign requirements.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Maintains frequent contact with internal personnel and external representatives concerning operations, scheduling, or specific phases of projects or contracts.
  • Implements policies, procedures, and documents to ensure consistent execution of processes within the team in support of Boeing and regulatory requirements.
  • Enforces company rules and policies regarding ethical behavior, safety, security, use of company property, time charging, etc.
  • Provides technical direction and guidance to others regarding approved processes, tools, technology, and skills for own projects or processes.
  • Ensures workgroup products or processes meet customer, company, quality, industry, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manages all estimating and resource planning of launch engineers and logisticians.
  • Provides mission assurance inputs for Launch IPT related items.
  • Responsible for providing oversight support during pre-launch, launch countdown, launch, and post-launch.
  • Works at remote launch site environments as necessary supporting spacecraft integration, test, propulsion, and launch operations.
  • Drives team to develop common practices to meet program cost, schedule, quality, and technical objectives.
  • Develops strategy to reinforce launch operations lessons learned and best practices for implementation on future programs.
  • Responsible for making sure that the team is compliant with ITAR and EAR exports regulations.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 5+ years of experience in aerospace production and maintenance.
  • 1+ years of experience managing people, programs, and budgets.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience.
  • Experience in engineering to include experience with Spacecraft or launch vehicle fabrication, integration and operations.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Master's degree or higher in an Engineering field.
  • Minimum 2 years of front-line manager experience.
  • Proactively and quickly makes sense of complex issues and data while responding effectively to complex and ambiguous situations.
  • Experience leading diverse teams in a collaborative, respectful, and innovative environment.
  • Experience leading interdisciplinary initiatives to improve the value stream.

Summary pay range: $166,600 - $225,400
