Need consultant Local to Plano, TX
Data Architect
Duration: Long Term Contract
Location: Dallas, TX - Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain enterprise-level data architecture aligned with business and technology strategies.
- Lead and enforce Data Governance frameworks, including data quality, metadata management, stewardship, and compliance.
- Define and implement Data Security standards, including data classification, encryption, access control, and regulatory compliance (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, etc.).
- Develop data models, data flow diagrams, and system integration designs for cloud and on-prem environments.
- Partner with cybersecurity teams to assess risks, secure sensitive data, and enforce best practices in data protection.
- Establish and maintain data lineage, cataloging, and metadata documentation using modern governance tools.
- Collaborate with business, engineering, and analytics teams to ensure reliable and secure data availability.
- Define enterprise policies for data lifecycle management, retention, archival, and secure disposal.
- Drive data architecture reviews, performance optimizations, and platform modernization initiatives.
- Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards, cloud adoption frameworks, and security guidelines.
Required Skills & Experience
- 13+ years of experience as a Data Architect or similar role.
- Strong hands-on expertise in Data Governance (Collibra, Informatica Axon, Alation, Apache Atlas, etc.).
- Deep knowledge of Data Security principles, including encryption, IAM, data masking, tokenization, and audit controls.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform) and their security services (KMS, IAM, DLP, etc.).
- Strong SQL, data modeling, ETL/ELT, and database design skills across relational and NoSQL systems.
- Experience implementing enterprise data catalogs, metadata management, and lineage frameworks.
- Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks: GDPR, CCPA, SOX, HIPAA, etc.
- Ability to translate business needs into scalable and secure data architectural solutions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
