Network Engineer

Description

We are looking for an experienced Security Engineer to join our team in Washington D.C. As a key contributor, you will design and implement security systems to safeguard data and systems while providing technical engineering services to address information-related risks. This is a long-term contract position that offers the opportunity to work on complex challenges, collaborate with senior management, and lead technical initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and maintain secure IPv6 network architectures, including firewalls and segmentation strategies.
• Collaborate with federal leadership and technical teams to troubleshoot IPv6-related security issues.
• Conduct regular assessments to identify vulnerabilities in IPv6 networks, services, and applications.
• Respond to and support IPv6-related security incidents and investigations.
• Develop and enforce IPv6-specific security policies, standards, and procedures.
• Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, incident reports, and security protocols.
• Manage and resolve IPv6 cybersecurity-related ITSM tickets (e.g., ServiceNow).
• Participate in cybersecurity and SecOps meetings to align with broader security initiatives.
• Provide input on cybersecurity solutions that enhance the organization's IPv6 security posture.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field (Master's preferred).
• 9+ years of relevant experience in network security and cybersecurity operations.
• Strong knowledge of federal cybersecurity standards (e.g., NIST, DHS/CISA).
• Proficiency with network security tools including IDS/IPS, firewalls, and SIEM platforms.
• Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience with IPv6 network design, implementation, and security best practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certifications such as CISSP, Certified IPv6 Security Expert (CISE), or equivalent.
• In-depth knowledge of both IPv4 and IPv6 network topologies and communication protocols.
• Hands-on experience with:
• Firewalls, routers, switches, proxies
• Cloud-based systems and operating systems
• Endpoint security, DLP, and host-based IDS/IPS
• Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks and industry standards for secure IPv6 deployment.
