Job Details

Title: Electrical Engineer 2
Location: Vancouver, WA (Hybrid)
Duration: 12-month Contract (with possible extensions up to 5 years)
Pay Range: $51.31 $54.33 per hour

This function provides professional engineering expertise in assisting project manager and other engineering personnel in implementing projects, supporting field maintenance crews and other related engineering activities.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Confer with engineers, internal customers, and others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects
  • Plan/implement research methodology and procedures to apply principles of electrical theory to engineering projects.
  • Prepare specifications for purchase of materials and equipment.
  • Design, implement, maintain, and improve electrical instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems.
  • Operate computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
  • Create electrical drawings, reports and calculations to support the engineering solutions for electrical systems.
  • Facilitate and coordinate construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, or testing activities to verify compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
  • Perform detailed calculations to compute and establish construction, and installation standards and specifications.
  • Inspect completed installations and observe operations to verify conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with operational and safety standards.
  • Facilitates significant work components within large projects.
  • May act as local project manager over projects, coordinating multi-skilled, multi-discipline work groups.
  • Writes/reviews written work plans/functional tests.
  • Performs troubleshooting and provides technical support to craft/customer personnel.
  • Attends project scoping meetings or design reviews, recommends changes to specification diagrams based on technical and operational issues.
  • May provide field man-hour estimates, and develop outage/transition plans to facilitate project implementation. Works with design staff during engineering phase to understand design philosophy and provide field information/valid requirements.
  • Applies diversified knowledge of engineering principles/practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields.

Position Requirements:
Education & Corresponding Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (from an ABET accredited school) is required.
  • 5 years of work-related experience and knowledge of electrical engineering concepts, principles, and practices.
Required Technical Skills & Experience
  • 5 years of experience with design and engineering of low and medium voltage systems in compliance with various Codes.
  • 5 years of experience with Power Systems, power distribution, and utilization. This includes knowledge and design experience of transformers, panelboards, standby engine-generators, motors, lighting system, Fire Alarm system, cabling, and grounding etc.
  • Knowledge of professional engineering theory and techniques sufficient to provide technical leadership in the design of electrical systems.
  • Understanding of Electrical Safety Standards, safety regulations, and code requirements (NESC).
  • Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC), which is crucial for ensuring compliance with electrical safety standards.
  • Familiarity of the different industry standards related to electrical design and installation such as the National Fire protection Association (NFPA), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), ANSI and others.
Preferred Technical Skills & Experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, to develop and deliver briefings, statuses, reports, statements of work, and miscellaneous correspondence.
  • Familiarity with electrical System Short Circuit, and Arc Flash Studies.
