Position Overview
The IT Solution Manager plays a key role in bridging business needs with technology solutions. This role is responsible for facilitating discovery and requirements sessions, capturing and refining business and technical requirements, and ensuring solutions are documented and transitioned seamlessly into execution. The IT Solution Manager works closely with stakeholders across business units, IT architecture, delivery teams, and product management to align on solution intent and readiness for PI (Program Increment) planning.
Key Responsibilities
Business Requirements & Discovery
- Facilitate structured discovery sessions with business stakeholders, solution architects, and delivery teams.
- Use probing questions to uncover underlying business needs, process gaps, and technical constraints.
- Translate high-level business objectives into clear, detailed, and actionable requirements.
- Identify requirement gaps and escalate appropriately for clarification.
Documentation & Tools
- Document business requirements, capabilities, and solution intent in Jira Align (and other enterprise tools as needed).
- Maintain traceability between business requirements, epics, and solution designs.
- Ensure artifacts are complete, consistent, and aligned with organizational standards.
- Support definition of ready criteria for epics and capabilities entering PI Planning.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with Business Architecture, Solution Architecture, and Enterprise Architecture teams to ensure alignment of solution intent with strategic objectives.
- Act as a trusted advisor by clarifying trade-offs, dependencies, and potential risks during solution shaping.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with business and IT stakeholders to ensure requirements reflect organizational priorities.
Solution Readiness & Transition
- Support Solution Managers, RTEs, and Product Managers in ensuring epics are prepared for PI Planning.
- Contribute to solution playbooks, checklists, and repeatable frameworks that improve consistency in requirements gathering.
- Participate in backlog refinement and prioritization discussions to ensure requirements are feasible, testable, and aligned with delivery guardrails.
Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field; Master s preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in IT business analysis, solution management, or a related role.
- Strong facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to guide diverse groups toward consensus.
- Experience working in Agile/SAFe environments; familiarity with PI Planning processes.
- Proficiency with Jira Align, Jira, Confluence, or similar tools for documentation and traceability.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on bridging business and technology.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple initiatives in parallel.
