RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Principal Software Engineer - Governance and Quality in Maryland Heights, MO.
Overview:
We are seeking a seasoned Principal Software Engineer to help manage the development organizations Governance and Quality. This role is pivotal in overseeing and enhancing the development practices across multiple teams, ensuring high-quality code delivery, and guiding teams through their cloud transformation journey.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Oversight & Governance (80%):
* Establish and enforce best practices, coding standards, and design patterns across development teams
* Conduct regular code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to standards
* Mentor and guide developers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence
* Collaborate with team leads to identify and address technical challenges and bottlenecks
* Develop and implement strategies to improve software development processes and workflows
Hands-On Development & Support (20%):
* Engage directly with codebases to understand technical issues and provide solutions
* Assist teams in troubleshooting complex problems and implementing effective fixes
* Stay updated with emerging technologies and assess their applicability to current projects
Cloud Transformation Leadership:
* Guide teams through the transition from traditional VM-based deployments to cloud-native architectures
* Provide expertise in containerization, orchestration, and cloud services to facilitate smooth migrations
* Ensure that cloud adoption aligns with organizational goals and best practices
REQUIREMENTS:
Technical Skills:
* The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background
* Proficient in Java and Spring Boot frameworks
* Experience with containerization tools like Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes
* Strong understanding of AWS services and cloud-native application development
* Hands-on experience with databases including Oracle, MongoDB, and SQL
* Familiarity with CI/CD tools and version control systems like GitLab, Bitbucket, and Terraform
Leadership & Communication:
* Demonstrated ability to lead and influence technical teams across different geographies
* Excellent communication skills to articulate technical concepts to diverse audiences
* Proven track record of mentoring developers and fostering collaborative team environments
Adaptability:
* Ability to quickly integrate into various teams and understand their unique challenges
* Resilience in the face of resistance, with strategies to gain trust and drive change
* Willingness to stay hands-on with technology while also focusing on governance and leadership
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with BPMN process engines such as Camunda or similar tools
* Background in managing both onshore and offshore development teams
* Prior experience in roles that combined technical leadership with hands-on development
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
