Electrical Engineer

Atlanta, GA 30308 I-285 Perimeter (100% Onsite Job)

12+ Months Contract

Electrical Engineer (General EE with Coding/Electrical Skills)

A solid electrical engineering foundation (circuits, sensors, power distribution).

Hands-on experience with troubleshooting hardware and field equipment.

Practical coding ability: Python and/or C++ preferred.

Experience with automation, data acquisition, or embedded systems.

Understand importance of Signal Integrity/EMI considerations.

Ability to assist with hardware bring-up, wiring, testing, and component-level debugging.

Willingness to support onsite deployments, system installation, and diagnostics.

A balanced skillset: confident using a scope or meter and writing utility scripts.

Some additional info:

This role will be approximately 50% travel to various railyard sites. NS operates eastern half of the US.

Must have a credit card. Expenses are reimbursed.

Heavy hardware focus: wiring, testing, component level debugging, troubleshooting hardware in the field, embedded systems, must have coding expertise in Python & C++, etc.

Project Info: Digital Train Inspection & Autonomous Railcar Systems. This Engineering team is focused on developing AI-powered digital train inspection portals and autonomous railcar systems. The team is transitioning from field deployments (20 inspection portals completed) to new R&D-focused projects in hardware and IoT. Need a Hardware/IoT Engineer for a contract-to-hire opportunity. This role is ideal for engineers with a strong hardware foundation who enjoy solving problems in unstructured, experimental environments.

Additional Notes:

This is for an AI project that is dealing with machines & software that will be doing the calculations & tabulations of the cargo loads for the trains.

Should have AI project experience

Should have experience troubleshooting hardware in the field

Should have Automation experience

Should have Embedded Systems experience

Ideally, any Railroad Industry experience or similar industry experience.
