Principal AI Engineer

We are seeking a seasoned Senior AI Engineer to own the full lifecycle of AI/ML projects-from ideation and prototyping to deployment and optimization. This role blends technical expertise with business-facing collaboration and requires a strong foundation in cloud-native architecture, Python programming, and scalable AI systems.

Key Responsibilities:
Project Leadership:
* Lead end-to-end development of production-grade AI solutions
* Collaborate with stakeholders, product owners, and domain experts to align technical solutions with business goals
* Drive agile delivery through sprint planning, stand-ups, backlog grooming, and retrospectives

Technical Execution:
* Design and deploy AI agents and tools for business use
* Integrate advanced AI solutions, including LLMs and semantic search engines
* Architect scalable, secure, and cost-effective AI systems on AWS or Google Cloud Platform
* Embed AI models into existing workflows and systems
* Optimize models via hyperparameter tuning, A/B testing, and performance monitoring
* Implement document processing with embeddings and indexing
* Integrate knowledge graphs and ensure ethical AI practices
* Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge sharing

REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
* 10+ years in software engineering, especially distributed systems
* 5+ years in AI/ML engineering with a focus on Generative AI
* Proficiency in Python and frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch
* Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform)
* Strong grasp of machine learning algorithms and data structures
* Solid SQL and database skills
* Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities

Preferred:
* Experience with financial datasets and time-series data
* Familiarity with MLOps tools and practices
* Understanding of ethical AI and security architecture
* Strong presentation skills with a business-oriented mindset

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
