Job Description

Position Title: Systems Administrator III

Reports to: Sr. Manager, Systems

Classification: Exempt

Revision Date: July 2024

Job Summary: Responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration,

operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related

infrastructure. Participates in technical research and development to enable continuing

innovation within the infrastructure and plays a key role in assisting with public cloud

(e.g., Azure, AWS) related tasks and projects as part of the cloud integration initiatives.

Ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related

procedures adhere to organizational standards. The primary areas of responsibilities

include email systems, directory services, server operating systems, virtualization

platforms, storage platforms, data center design and operations, monitoring & alerting,

and backup and recovery. This role also serves as a backup for the network and

security teams, as required.

The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices on a

daily basis: 1) Demonstrate alignment with the company's mission and core

business values; 2) Collaborate with key internal/external resources;

3) Participate in ongoing self-development.

Essential Functions:


Collaborates on administering the Microsoft Infrastructure Suite within a hybrid

environment, managing critical services such as Active Directory/Entra ID, Group

Policies, DNS, and DHCP responsibilities.

Provides adept support for a hybrid Microsoft Exchange environment, inclusive of

the Office 365 suite, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration across

the organization.


Performs advanced troubleshooting tasks and resolves on-prem. physical server,

private and public cloud (e.g., Azure, AWS) infrastructure issues, working closely

with internal teams and Microsoft support as needed, and performs root cause

analysis to prevent future incidents.


Designs, deploys, and manages public cloud (e.g., Azure, AWS) infrastructure

solutions alongside private cloud VMware vCenter/ESXi, encompassing virtual

machines, storage, virtual networking, and security, aligned with business

requirements and industry best practices.


Monitors environments for performance, availability / disaster recovery, and

security compliance, while demonstrating proficiency in performing automated

tasks using Microsoft GRAPH, PowerShell, or other relevant tools.


Implements and manages Azure or equivalent public cloud services such as App

Service, Azure SQL Database, network security groups, private access, and

virtual networks.


Collaborates with cross-functional teams to design and implement public cloud-

based solutions tailored to meet business objectives and adhere to industry s

best practices.


Performs system-level performance tuning and capacity planning.


Researches new technologies and develops long-term strategic plan and road

map with senior management.


Works safely always and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with

all company policies, procedures, and standards.

Technical Skills


Knowledge of private and public cloud/virtualization technologies and capabilities

to ideally include VMWare and Azure as well as storage solutions (NAS/SAN and

public cloud storage).


Proficient in managing Microsoft core infrastructure suite, including Active

Directory, DNS, DHCP, group policy, and ADFS.


Proficient in managing hybrid Microsoft 365 environments.


Practical scripting experience with building scripts to automate daily operations of

system using tools like PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, etc.


Hands-on experience with monitoring and logging, log retention, performance

monitoring, and auditing.


Experience with hybrid cloud architectures and technologies, hybrid networking

configurations, including Azure hybrid connectivity solutions (ExpressRoute,

VPN).


Solid understanding of networking concepts and technologies, including virtual

networks, firewalls, and network security groups.


Strong analytical problem-solving skills for diagnosing and resolving complex

performance and configuration issues.


Knowledge of anti-spam management proceedures and software (Proofpoint,

SPF, DKIM, DMARC)


Knowledge of enterprise backup, patching and disaster recovery software and

proceedures.


Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate

effectively with cross-functional teams.

operating procedures (SOPs) related to the usage of software products

and solutions and recommends changes to improve the process.


Attends and participates in IT Change Control & Prioritization meetings and

helps in the discovery and estimating of impact of change on end user

communities.


Provide systems support including responding to monitoring alerts


Showcase (demonstrate) work deliverables to both internal and

external stakeholders.


Design and develop workflow and functional diagrams to demonstrate

proposed solutions to clients and internal teams, including spreadsheets,

diagrams, and process maps.

Education and Experience:


Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technologies, Engineering,

or a related field, or equivalent experience.


Minimum of 6 years of experience as a Systems Administrator with hand-on

public cloud experience required, over 8 years preferred.


Solid experience in designing, implementing, and managing Azure solutions

across various Azure services or equivalent public cloud experience.


1-2 years of experience working with suppliers conducting vendor evaluations,

product proofs of concepts, pilots, and enterprise implementations preferred.

Preferred Certifications or obtained within 12 months of hire:

o Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104),

o Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Certification (e.g., AZ-800, AZ-

801 or related Microsoft Windows Server administration certifications)
