Job Details
Sirius Staffing is seeking Engineers at multiple levels (Engineer II, Senior Engineer/Engineer III, Principal Engineer/Engineer IV, and Engineering Fellow) to support Asset Management and Electrical System Reliability functions within power generation and grid operations. This role supports the safety, reliability, and performance of critical electrical assets across generation, transmission, substation, and distribution environments.
Pay dependent on years of experience.
The Engineer will work with grid and plant operations teams to ensure the safe, compliant, and cost-effective performance of electrical systems and equipment. This position provides technical expertise, supports capital and maintenance projects, and helps develop strategies that improve equipment health, predict failures, and enhance overall system reliability. The role may involve leading technical teams, supporting outage response, analyzing asset performance, and providing engineering guidance related to plant and grid equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the reliability, performance, and integrity of electrical systems, equipment, and grid assets.
- Develop and maintain models, databases, and analytics used to assess asset condition, predict failures, and evaluate system health.
- Identify potential equipment failures, analyze risks, and recommend proactive mitigation strategies.
- Provide technical support for capital projects, equipment procurement, maintenance planning, and operating procedures.
- Lead or contribute to reliability and asset management teams, ensuring consistent implementation of best practices across sites.
- Support NERC compliance activities and documentation related to electrical systems and protection equipment.
- Perform assessments and inspections using engineering tools, analysis techniques, and non-destructive testing methods.
- Assist with major outage planning and respond to forced outages to support safe and timely equipment restoration.
- Develop procedures, training, and continuous improvement initiatives related to electrical reliability and asset management.
- Collaborate with internal teams including operations, maintenance, project management, construction, planning, and safety.
- Engage with contractors, vendors, and other external partners as needed for technical support and project execution.
Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program (Electrical Engineering preferred).
- Industry experience requirements vary by level (from mid-level to Fellow) and may include power plant engineering, electrical equipment performance, NERC standards, system modeling, and asset reliability.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in field environments, support outages, and travel to multiple facilities as needed.
- Familiarity with electrical equipment such as generators, motors, transformers, switchgear, inverters, batteries, and plant control systems is highly beneficial.
Work Environment
- Primarily weekday schedule with flexibility for outage support, overtime, and occasional weekends.
- Work performed across power plants and grid facilities, including outdoor and industrial environments.
- Requires use of PPE, ability to travel, and ability to perform moderate physical tasks.
