We are seeking a skilled and dependable Cabling Technician to join our team. This role involves the installation and maintenance of copper and fiber optic cabling systems, telecom hardware, access control systems, and surveillance equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structured cabling, be detail-oriented, and committed to delivering high-quality service to clients. You'll work both independently and as part of a team to support a wide range of telecommunication and network infrastructure projects.

responsibilities:


  • Install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot copper (CAT5, CAT6, low voltage) and fiber optic cabling
  • Mount and configure telecommunications equipment, including routers, switches, racks, j-hooks, and patch panels
  • Install access control systems and surveillance cameras
  • Perform closet buildouts: install connecting blocks, fiber enclosures, racks, backboards, and patch panels
  • Conduct site surveys and post-installation assessments to collect and present wireless network data
  • Perform manual cross-connects on patch panels and telephony blocks (66 & 110 blocks)
  • Identify and assist with telephony and networking equipment setup (e.g., CSU/DSU, smart jacks)
  • Configure basic Cisco network switches and wireless access points
  • Create accurate site as-built documentation using Microsoft Visio, Excel, and Word
  • Use AirMagnet WiFi Analyzer and other tools to assess wireless networks
  • Maintain professional client relationships and address service issues or escalations
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and industry standards


qualifications:


  • Minimum 2 years of experience in cabling installation and structured wiring
  • Proficient with copper cabling installation; fiber optic cabling experience is a plus
  • Ability to perform all physical requirements including lifting 60 lbs., climbing ladders, and working in tight spaces
  • Valid driver's license or CDL required
  • Willingness to travel and work overtime as needed
  • Strong knowledge of wiring practices, underground cabling, color codes, and terminations

  • Experience with Cisco switch and WAP configuration
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Visio
  • Working knowledge of AirMagnet WiFi Analyzer
  • Understanding of network infrastructure and basic database entries for network devices
  • Strong communication, organization, and customer service skills
