Job Description :
We are seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager with Mainframe domain expertise preferred and Scrum/Agile delivery experience to lead and manage mainframe modernization, maintenance, and enhancement projects. The ideal candidate will bridge business, technical, and delivery teams, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with organizational goals while following Agile/Scrum best practices.
Technical Skills :
  • Hands-on knowledge of Mainframe technologies:
  • COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, IMS, VSAM, z/OS
  • Experience managing batch and online processing environments.
  • Familiarity with DevOps or CI/CD concepts for mainframe is a plus.
Project & Agile Skills :
  • Proven experience as a Technical Project Manager or Scrum Master.
  • Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum frameworks, SDLC, and project governance.
  • Experience using Agile and project tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, MS Project, Rally).
Soft Skills  : 
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Roles & Responsibilities
Project & Delivery Management
•    Lead end-to-end project management for Mainframe applications (COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, IMS, VSAM, z/OS).
•    Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, and success criteria.
•    Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
•    Track project progress, manage dependencies, and proactively mitigate risks and issues.
•     Ensure adherence to quality standards, governance, and compliance requirements.
Agile / Scrum Responsibilities :
  • Act as Scrum Master or Agile Project Manager for mainframe Agile teams.
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies: Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners to refine and prioritize the backlog.
  • Ensure sprint commitments are met and remove impediments to team progress.
  • Promote Agile best practices, continuous improvement, and team velocity optimization.
  • Technical & Mainframe Leadership
  • Work closely with architects, developers, and infrastructure teams on mainframe solutions.
  • Understand technical designs, integration points, batch cycles, and system dependencies.
  • Coordinate mainframe releases, deployments, batch schedules, and production support activities.
  • Support mainframe modernization, migration, or optimization initiatives when applicable.
  • Stakeholder & Communication Management
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for business stakeholders, IT leadership, and vendors.
  • Provide regular status updates, dashboards, and executive-level reporting.
  • Manage expectations, scope changes, and communication across cross-functional teams.
  • Facilitate decision-making and escalate issues when required.
  • Risk, Change & Compliance
  • Identify and manage project risks, issues, and change requests.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise standards, audit requirements, and security policies.
  • Support incident management, root cause analysis, and post-implementation reviews.
