Role: Cloud Modernization Consultant / Engineer
Location: Remote

Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Modernization Consultant/Engineer to advise clients on application development methodologies, tools, and modernization strategies. The role requires expertise in hybrid cloud, containerized applications, API/microservices development, and legacy system modernization. The consultant will work closely with senior resources to design, build, and maintain cloud-native environments, while also guiding clients in transforming workloads from legacy platforms into modern architectures.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise clients on application development methodologies, tools, and hybrid cloud strategies.
- Design, build, and maintain containerized hybrid cloud environments with a focus on uptime, access control, network security, and automation.
- Lead application modernization projects, including:
- Refactoring and re-architecting legacy platforms (mainframe, iSeries, Solaris, VAX/VMS).
- Migration planning and implementation (containerization, API enablement, microservices creation, database conversion).
- Implement API and microservices-based architectures using Node.js, Spring Boot, or Spring Cloud.
- Collaborate on solution design and delivery phases, ensuring cloud-native best practices.
- Map existing application components to cloud-native services across providers (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, IBM Cloud) and guide clients on trade-offs.
- Provide consulting support during legacy modernization solution delivery, including co-existence architecture and continuous modernization strategies.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of experience in data processing or computer operations.
- Hands-on experience in hybrid cloud and containerized environments (Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of cloud-native development principles, serverless computing, and configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, Puppet).
- At least 2 years of experience implementing API/microservices architectures in Node.js, Spring Boot, or Spring Cloud.
- Solid expertise in software architecture fundamentals and cloud-native methodologies.
- Experience in legacy modernization: refactoring, containerization, API enablement, language conversion, and database conversion.
- Familiarity with banking/financial applicationssuch as Fiserv Premier.
- Working knowledge of Unisys MCP & WFL, and IBM iSeries & AJS (job scheduler).
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Premier software experience in the banking domain.
- Two-year degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Multi-platform knowledge (Unisys + IBM systems).
