Senior Consultant - Claims Engineering
We will count on you to:
Utilize engineering knowledge to measure financial damages in connection with a first party property insurance claim policy. Responsible for developing a claim model related to scope and pricing of an "as was" rebuild should the client's actual rebuild differ from the pre-existing structures. Utilize in-depth knowledge of typical insurance policy coverages in order to decipher which aspects of the rebuild would be recoverable and measured as part of the claim model. Identify and mitigate risks on large commercial re-construction and property loss sites including estimating the financial implications a loss may have on the business. Work within a bespoke consulting team on behalf of company's policyholder clients. Support clients at various points in the reconstruction lifecycle with services including schedule delay and claims analysis, change order assessments, compliance, project controls advisory, risk management, project performance, financial audits, and contract administration. Support detailed analyses of project schedule delays, cost overruns, productivity, contracts, change orders and other issues related to design and construction to ascertain the proper value of a commercial property claim. Analyze project cost records and financial statements. Reconcile claim amounts to accounting systems and to insurers' calculations. Provide technical advice and be the point person with contractors, construction managers, attorneys, management, development team staff and insurance company experts. Develop computer models of schedules, contractor production rates, and costs using various software packages. Prepare damage claim models in accordance with insurance policy requirements.
What you need to have:
Must have a Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, plus three (3) years of experience in the job offered, as a Project Manager, Project Engineer, Senior Consultant, Construction Consulting Services, Senior Consultant, Construction Risk Management or a related occupation. In the alternative, employer will accept a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, plus five (5) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered, as a Project Manager, Project Engineer, Senior Consultant, Construction Consulting Services, Senior Consultant, Construction Risk Management or a related occupation.
Three (3) years of experience (or five (5) years in the alternative with a Bachelor's) must include: Working with construction project cost controls and contract administration. Analyzing construction costs including change orders, payment requisitions, time, material and equipment documentation. Hands-on experience with the construction cost estimating process. Construction planning, scheduling, and general project controls to support a time element claim. Developing, reviewing, updating and analyzing construction project schedules. Analyzing project delays and the construction progress update process. Working with property claim adjusters and consultants on property losses nationally and internationally. Working in the insurance industry with property insurance policies. Utilizing estimating manuals including Marshall Valuation Service, and Xactimate. Assessing the impact on reconstruction (cost and timeframe) from applicable building codes. Analysis of repair versus replacement cost. Overseeing multiple projects involving large-scale re-construction and projects involving 1st Party property losses including: property policies, industry accepted estimating manuals, building codes and their effect on project cost and timeline, cost indexing of historical pricing. 50% domestic and international travel is required to various and unanticipated company and client sites.
