Title - Google Cloud Platform Network Architect

Location: Remote
Employment Type: Contract
Experience Level: Senior (15+ years)

Key Responsibilities

Architect, design, and implement enterprise-grade Google Cloud Platform network solutions to support business-critical applications.
Develop and manage VPCs, subnets, interconnects, peering, VPNs, load balancers, and Cloud DNS configurations.
Define and enforce network security, IAM policies, and firewall rules to ensure compliance and data protection.
Collaborate with cloud, infrastructure, and application teams to integrate networking solutions with multi-cloud and hybrid-cloud environments.
Provide technical leadership in designing high-availability and disaster recovery architectures for Google Cloud Platform-based workloads.
Optimize network performance, cost, and scalability through monitoring, tuning, and best practices.
Lead migration strategies from on-premises or other cloud providers into Google Cloud Platform.
Evaluate and implement network automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) approaches using Terraform, Deployment Manager, or equivalent tools.
Stay current with the latest Google Cloud Platform services and networking trends, advising stakeholders on innovative solutions.
Mentor team members and provide guidance on cloud networking standards and practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications

15+ years of overall IT experience with strong expertise in network architecture and design.
5+ years of hands-on Google Cloud Platform networking experience, with certifications such as Google Professional Cloud Network Engineer or Google Cloud Architect.
Deep knowledge of VPC design, subnets, firewall rules, routes, load balancers, hybrid connectivity (Interconnect, VPN, Direct Peering, Carrier Peering).
Strong understanding of network security, IAM, SSL/TLS, and encryption in Google Cloud Platform.
Hands-on experience with Terraform, Deployment Manager, or Ansible for Infrastructure as Code.
Proven experience in multi-cloud networking strategies (Google Cloud Platform with AWS/Azure).
Solid expertise in DNS, CDN, Content Delivery, and Edge Networking solutions.
Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Skills

Ex-Google experience strongly preferred.
Experience with service mesh (Istio/Anthos) or API gateways in Google Cloud Platform.
Familiarity with Kubernetes (GKE) networking concepts and service discovery.
Exposure to Zero Trust networking and SASE frameworks.
Knowledge of regulatory compliance frameworks (HIPAA, PCI-DSS, FedRAMP) in cloud networking.
