Job Details

Job Title: Data Analyst
Duration: 7 Months (Tentative)
Location: Charlestown, MA (Hybrid)

Summary: An experienced Data Analyst is needed to support application and data initiatives within an IT division. The ideal candidate will have 2 3 years of experience in SQL query writing (PostgreSQL & Oracle), Power BI (dashboard creation, reporting, and data modeling), software testing, and business analysis. This position bridges data, applications, and business processes to support decision-making and system improvements. This is a contract role with the potential for full-time conversion after six to twelve months based on performance and organizational needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot SQL queries in PostgreSQL and Oracle for data extraction and reporting.

  • Design and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and data models to provide business insights.

  • Conduct software testing (functional, regression, and UAT) to ensure application performance and reliability.

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather and document business and system requirements.

  • Identify and resolve data inconsistencies across applications and reporting platforms.

  • Coordinate with vendors, business users, and IT teams to enhance application functionality.

  • Act as a liaison between business units and vendor support to resolve system issues (e.g., MyTRS).

  • Analyze and address help desk tickets relevant to the role.

  • Participate in daily team huddles and project meetings.

  • Support system enhancements and process automation initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Information Technology or a related field.

  • 2 3 years of experience writing complex SQL queries (PostgreSQL and Oracle).

  • 2 3 years of Power BI experience, including dashboard development and data modeling.

  • 2 3 years of software testing experience (test planning, execution, and defect tracking).

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities.

  • Ability to identify business problems and translate them into actionable technical solutions.

  • Collaborative mindset and experience working with cross-functional teams.
