Job Details
Many of the world's top engineers and scientists come together in our Water business because they view a community's interaction with water a bit differently-as a single holistic system, rather than unconnected networks divided by jurisdictional boundaries. We are delivering sustainable solutions to make sure water is where it should be and available when needed. Our experts guide our work with scientific rigor, an innovative spirit, and a vision for growth. Every day, we help communities improve, reuse, and protect this precious resource for future generations. Grow with us, H2O+U.
Your Opportunity
As a Mechanical Engineer in Training (EIT) working out of our Cleveland, OH office, you will work directly under the guidance and mentorship of a Senior Mechanical Engineer on all projects. On larger projects, you will also collaborate and coordinate with other EIT's and design staff. You will contribute to the evaluation, design, and specification of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for buildings. Your contributions to each project will comply with applicable building codes and industry standards, best engineering practice, and client and safety requirements.
Your Key Responsibilities
Assist with the design of HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection systems for projects within Stantec's Water business line.
Use Revit and AutoCAD to generate 3D models and 2D plans for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
Perform basic calculations to analyze and design building mechanical systems using Stantec tools and industry standard software such as Carrier Hourly Analysis Program, Trane Trace 3D Plus, or similar.
Become familiar with state and local building codes, industrial design standards and guidelines, and client and safety requirements.
Your Capabilities
Knowledge of the fundamentals of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics.
Basic understanding of Autodesk software suite, and the use of it as a design and drafting tool.
Ability to take direction, follow standard processes, accept feedback and suggestions from senior staff, and work efficiently.
Experience working with Microsoft Office software suite.
Education, Experience, and Credentials
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or architectural engineering from an accredited institution.
Recent graduate with up to 2 years of work experience. Experience with industrial projects and co-op / internship experience are both a plus.
EIT certification or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
