Job Title: Controls and Electrical Drafting Engineer
Location: Houston, TX
Duration: 12 + Months Contract/Temp with the possibility of extension

Job Description:
We are seeking a Controls and Electrical Drafting Engineer to support the design and documentation of industrial control systems. This role involves creating detailed electrical schematics, panel layouts, and control system architecture diagrams using AutoCAD Electrical. The ideal candidate will have strong drafting experience, an understanding of industrial power and control systems, and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain standard electrical drawings using AutoCAD Electrical (schematics, panel layouts, assembly diagrams, BOMs).
Draft control system architecture diagrams and network topology documentation.
Create control panel outlines and layout drawings for retrofit and upgrade projects.
Support standardization efforts including database and catalog management within AutoCAD Electrical.
Customize and automate drafting tools to improve design workflows.
Collaborate with engineers to deliver high-quality documentation for control system upgrades and replacements.
Ensure technical accuracy and adherence to engineering best practices.
Must-Have Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Controls Engineering - or 5+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical, including use of symbols, project manager, and scripting/customization.
Strong understanding of control system design and power distribution.
At least 3 years of experience in an engineering or drafting environment.
Experience with control panel design and BOM creation.
Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal.
High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with Rockwell ControlLogix, Flex I/O, or similar systems.
Experience with Siemens Teamcenter or similar product lifecycle tools.
Working knowledge of turbo compressor systems or related industrial machinery.
Exposure to safety systems such as Bently Nevada, Det-Tronics, or Woodward Micronet.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
