Overview

Delivering 1 COLUMBIA and 2 VIRGINIA Class submarines each year is critical to our nation's defense, and D931 needs you to help us achieve it! The Industrial Engineering Organization provides mission-critical support to EB Leadership and the functional organizations through implementation of the EB Production System, developing and managing the organization's improvement strategies, measuring the impact of improvement activities, and establishing the processes for the simultaneous build of VIRGINIA and COLUMBIA class submarines.

The Production Engineering group of the Quonset Point Facility is looking to fill a multi-purpose Engineering position. This position will be responsible for assisting in the developing and sustaining a new concept on how we manufacture parts, from an end to end process. They will be working with different organizations to evoke this concept into existing and new designs while representing the end customer. These tasks promote a great deal of exposure and opportunities across different departments and levels of management.

As an engineer in D931 the candidate should have the ability and wiliness to assist in any and all functions that directly support the trades and effects schedule. Job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Responsibilities
  • Support Steel Processing and Sheet Metal shops in programming, trouble shooting, testing and development
  • Leading efforts for Lot Based Manufacturing in future programs
  • Use Lean Six Sigma approaches to identify issues and lean out processes
  • Lead projects across multiple disciplines
  • Generation and support of Continuous Improvement initiatives
  • Provide assembly breakdowns, static nests, and initiate Work Transfer Product Structure Changes
  • Key stakeholder for IT projects supporting manufacturing of steel parts
  • Initiates software changes and testing to internal business software systems

This position is on-site located at the Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, RI.

Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Industrial Engineering or equivalent technical degree (or will be obtained by December 2025)
  • 0-5 years of postgraduate professional Engineering experience
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel including analyzing data, macro's and Vlookup formulas

Preferred:
  • Manufacturing shop floor experience
  • Experience with structural steel manufacturing processes to include supply chain and fabrication
  • Experience with Plasma, Oxy Fuel, Laser and Waterjet cutting processes
  • Lean Six Sigma Certified
  • Siemens NX/Teamcenter and/or 3D modeling software
