Job Title: Virtualization Engineer
Location: Remote
Duration: 6 Months

Position Overview:

We are looking for a skilled Virtualization Engineer to support and maintain a complex virtual infrastructure environment within a collaborative infrastructure and cloud operations team. This role is ideal for a seasoned engineer with deep expertise in VMware technologies, hyper-converged infrastructure, and virtualization automation.

The successful candidate will be responsible for deploying, managing, and optimizing virtualized systems to ensure high performance, availability, and scalability of services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain virtualization platforms and tools, including:

    • VMware ESXi (versions 5.x to 8.0)

    • VxRail hyper-converged infrastructure

    • VMware Horizon (VDI)

    • vRealize Operations and vRealize Automation

    • NSX, vSphere, and vCenter

  • Perform advanced VMware tasks such as:

    • High Availability (HA), Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS), Storage DRS (SDRS), and cluster configurations

    • Migration and upgrades of hypervisors and associated infrastructure

  • Analyze logs from vCenter, ESXi hosts, and virtual machines to troubleshoot and resolve system performance and stability issues

  • Configure and support storage systems and replication technologies (SAN/NAS) used within the virtualization environment

  • Implement and manage backup and recovery solutions using tools like Veeam, Avamar, or Isilon

  • Collaborate with network, storage, and system engineering teams to ensure infrastructure alignment and operational reliability

  • Monitor system health, resource capacity, and performance using VMware and third-party monitoring tools

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven hands-on experience with VMware ESXi (5.x 8.0), vCenter, and vSphere

  • Strong familiarity with VxRail, VMware Horizon, and vRealize components

  • Understanding of VMware NSX and network virtualization concepts

  • Practical experience with HA, DRS, SDRS, VM migrations, and clustering features

  • Proficient in root cause analysis through system log review and troubleshooting

  • Experience supporting storage replication, SAN/NAS environments

  • Familiarity with backup technologies such as Veeam, Avamar, or Isilon

  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication; documentation-focused mindset

Preferred Qualifications:

  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or equivalent certification

  • Experience in enterprise-level or hybrid cloud infrastructure environments

  • Knowledge of PowerCLI, automation scripting, or infrastructure as code (IaC)
