Description

SAIC is seeking a Senior Telecom Engineer to support the US Navy at Crane, IN.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position requires the candidate to be detail-oriented, organized, self-motivated, and able to work in a fast-paced environment. The candidate must possess strong communication skills, ability to work independently or in a team to find solutions, and ability to prioritize deliverables to meet schedules.

JOB RESPONSIBILITES:
  • Ensures the efforts of the deployment project managers, infrastructure management and systems management and engineering teams.
  • Stay apprised of all inter and intra organizational projects and issues.
  • Ensure internal processes and procedures are documented and updated.
  • Ensure that all OLAs for all relevant processes are created and maintained. Responsible for telephone port allocations.
  • Conduct system and network analysis and performance testing to ensure system reliability, capacity, and scalability.
  • Identify and troubleshoot hardware and software technical problems and work with R&D team for solutions.
  • Provide interface to customer on high-level issues or requests.
  • Oversee day-to-day resolution of system problems and root cause analysis and provide corrective actions.
  • Create automated test scenarios and environments for performance testing.
  • Ensures the Change Management Process is being followed. Identify performance bottlenecks, work cohesively within Engineering and DevOps teams to resolve issues.
  • Collaborate with LAN/WAN organizations on current and future network configurations, routing protocols, TCP/IP, QoS, tunneling and security protocols.
  • Ability to analyze system logs, performance issues and provide recommendations on improvements for QoS.
  • Perform system analysis on a wide range of network technologies including 5G, LTE, LTE-Advanced and proprietary systems.
  • Provide design recommendations based on technology standards and equipment specifications especially antennas.
  • Ensures system backups and preventative maintenance occur on a scheduled basis.
  • Provide detailed link budget analysis of various RF systems. Applies extensive technical expertise and has full knowledge of other related disciplines. Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet objectives.

Qualifications

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electronics Engineering with focus in microwave and radio frequency theory and minimum of 7 years of microwave and RF design required.
  • Experience in design, implementation and operation of Mobility services such as; 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G, GSM, GPRS,UMTS, HSPA, LTE, CDMA, etc.
  • Highly developed understanding of RF propagation principles, cellular theory, RF engineering tools, and antenna theory.
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, continuous integration, defect management, build processes & testing.
  • Experience in 3G, 4G, and/or 5G core network elements.
  • Experience in RF performance analysis and troubleshooting RF issues.
  • Demonstrated positive, energetic, and self-confident attitude.
  • Ability to quickly adapt and work with internal tools for validation of product performance and scaling.
  • Candidate must have an interim secret clearance to start with the ability to obtain a full secret clearance. SAIC will sponsor the clearance process.

DESIRED SKILLS:
  • Understanding of integrity/encryption protocols
  • Proven track record of producing architectural designs, technical leadership and mentoring
  • Experience of working with large scale call models, debugging complex problems by closely working with cross-functional development and tools team.
  • Hands on experience with installing and troubleshooting wireless network technologies
  • Advanced knowledge of GSM/UMTS/LTE platforms and product lines and their 5GPP specifications.
  • Expert knowledge in various protocols for interoperability, performance evaluation and troubleshooting the issues
  • Experience with Performance monitoring tools in a virtualized environment.
  • Experience in Python or C+, data analysis, and/or database management is highly desired.
