Position Overview

Analytical Linguist

Requirements:

As an Analytical Linguist

  • contribute to various tasks to develop and improve natural language processing
  • provide training, management, and oversight of a team performing various natural language processing tasks assigned to the team
  • Develope, maintain, and improve NLP quality training and or evaluate NLP or dialogue systems
  • Identify errors/regressions and propose solutions
  • Provide linguistic consultation on language specific NLP and/or dialogue analysis/modelling.
  • Ensure quality of user-facing linguistic output as part of user device dialogues
  • Language Proficiency and Analytical Skills

The proficiency of a native to near-native speaker in the target language is required in order to perform consistent and precise language review, analyze triggering issues, and to make judgments for complex or nuanced queries.

A degree or experience in language-related fields (e.g., linguistics, second language acquisition, language pedagogy) is not required, but would be highly beneficial.

Language Profiency needed: Someone who can support both Canadian French and Canadian English.

Technical Skills

The ability to identify and address basic technical issues (e.g., interpreting errors encountered while running evaluations in a UI or command line environment) allows a client to guide team members efficiently and address issues team-internally, or escalate them via appropriate avenues as necessary
