Role: Infrastructure Field Manager/Engineer
Location: Sacramento, CA Onsite (Mandatory)
Exrience Required:
10+ years in data center operations and infrastructure management, with experience supporting healthcare or critical facilities
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Data Center/Infrastructure Manager to oversee infrastructure operations, IDF/MDF management, and equipment lifecycle across hospital and clinic sites in the Sacramento region. This onsite role is responsible for the uptime, physical security, cable plant, and vendor coordination of data center and field closets supporting mission-critical healthcare operations.
Key Responsibilities
Data Center & Infrastructure Oversight
- Manage day-to-day operations of hospital and clinic-based MDF and IDF rooms
- Maintain physical and environmental integrity of data center spaces including cooling, power, rack layout, and cabling
- Coordinate server, network, storage, and telecom deployments and upgrades
- Perform equipment racking, patching, labeling, and cable management per standards
Asset & Inventory Control
- Maintain up-to-date inventory of racks, devices, patch panels, power systems, and structured cabling
- Oversee equipment moves, replacements, and lifecycle refreshes
- Ensure asset tagging and documentation compliance
Field Coordination & Support
- Support infrastructure readiness for new site builds, expansions, and healthcare remodels
- Travel across local sites to address field closet issues, outages, and deployment support
- Liaise with construction, facilities, and IT stakeholders during infrastructure upgrades
Operations, Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure all infrastructure follows security, access control, HIPAA, and data center best practices
- Track and report infrastructure incidents, planned changes, and capacity risks
- Maintain documentation of rack elevations, circuit paths, and IDF/MDF floorplans
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in data center or infrastructure operations
- Strong knowledge of cabling standards, power systems, patch panels, racks, and UPS systems
- Hands-on experience with MDF/IDF buildouts, network gear racking, and cabling tools
- Ability to coordinate with cross-functional IT, clinical, and facilities teams
- Healthcare environment experience highly preferred
Preferred Certifications
- BICSI, RCDD, or equivalent cabling certification
- Cisco CCNA (Infrastructure) or equivalent knowledge
- ITIL Foundation
Work Hours
- Onsite support required during business hours with some after-hours availability
- Frequent local travel between hospitals, clinics, and data closets in the Sacramento region
