                                   JD for the Data Engineer(PL/SQL) 
Looking for holder in Boston Metropolitan area (No sponsorships 
available). 
We are seeking experienced Data Engineers and Analysts to support the discovery and 
documentation phase of a large-scale legacy system modernization initiative. The ideal 
candidate will be responsible for analyzing existing systems, documenting technical 
and business logic, and building metadata repositories to enable future migration and 
transformation projects. 
Skills required: 
• Strong expertise in SQL Server (T-SQL), including schema design, stored procedure 
analysis, and query optimization. 
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Access (queries, forms, reports, and linked 
tables). 
• Good understanding of ETL concepts, data lineage, and dependency analysis. 
• Proficiency in documentation and metadata management, including data dictionaries, 
lineage diagrams, and metadata repositories. 
• Ability to create searchable, queryable outputs using Excel, metadata tables, or 
lightweight dashboards. 
• Experience analyzing large, undocumented legacy systems with complex 
interdependencies. 
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills for engaging with technical and 
business teams. 
• Exposure to Power BI or Tableau for metadata and dependency visualization. 
• Basic understanding of SSIS package analysis and reverse engineering is a plus. 
Roles and Responsibilities:   
• Analyze and document SQL Server databases, stored procedures, views, triggers, and 
functions. 
• Reverse-engineer Access applications, ETL workflows, and SSIS packages to extract 
business and transformation logic. 
• Build and maintain metadata repository tables capturing object details, dependencies, 
and transformation rules. 
• Identify and document system interdependencies and undocumented business rules. 
• Develop data dictionaries, dependency mappings, lineage diagrams, and system 
inventories. 
• Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and stakeholders to validate findings 
and ensure documentation accuracy. 
Exp: 4-7 years (Data Engineer -3 positions) 
Location: Boston Metropolitan area. 
Initial contract is for 6 months on 1099 basis. There is a probability of extension of 
contract or absorbed by the DEFTeam based on the performance of the candidates. 
Working Model-Initial onsite for 3 months later on hybrid depending upon the 
performance and client approvals 
Qualification: BTech /Masters in IT or related background 
Interview process: Total four rounds (1 HR; 2 Technical;1 management) will be taken by 
DEFTeam through video call.  Candidates must share the screen and have proper eye 
contact with the panel during the whole interview process. All AI tools are strictly 
prohibited during the interview process.
