Job Description:

1. Oversight/Administration/Design of Power BI Dashboard (12/31/25)

Oversee the development/design of performant & accurate Power BI dashboard:

1. Building Power BI Dashboards for use by multiple concurrent internal users. Lay groundwork for implementing subsequent external facing access, restricting users only having access to their customer data/metrics e.g. RLS (Row Level Security). Oversee overall design of dashboard.
2. The dashboard will be displaying aggregated information (volume, avg response times, errors/timeouts, presence of input data elements, etc) for billions of customer transactions across several dimensions (e.g. customer, product, time, state, etc). High level dimensions/metrics requirements for dashboard have already been collected from stakeholders.
3. Dashboard will be ingesting data (refreshed daily) from Snowflake SQL (most likely aggregated materialized views already defined)
4. Utilize Okta SSO -> Azure AD federation for internal/external user authentication & RLS (Row Level Security). Dashboard users should only be able to see customer data they ve been assigned to.
5. The dashboard should support end-user self-service via the Q&A visual (ie natural language queries on handful of curated datasets)
6. Evaluate external customer report creation options given existing licensing parameters
7. Dashboard/reports should be performant and should render from the aggregated data sources in a reasonable timeframe (few seconds)
8. Implement monitoring and logging features that will allow us to track user activity including who accessed what reports/dashboards, when, and how often
9. Provide expert consultation and advisory services on the design, layout/features, and functionality of the internal/customer-facing dashboard. This includes evaluation and recommendations related to:

1. Layout and Information Architecture Ensuring data is organized logically and intuitively, with a clear visual hierarchy that supports user workflows and decision-making.
2. Usability and User Experience (UX) Assessing dashboard accessibility, clarity, and ease of navigation (e.g. Dynamic dimension switching); identifying opportunities to improve user engagement and interpretability.
3. Data Display and Visualization Recommending best practices for visual representation (charts, graphs, tables) to ensure clear, actionable insights and minimize cognitive load.

1. Training data analysts to build Power BI Reports (9/30/25)

Help train/guide junior analysts (with some existing experience with creating dashboards in Power BI/Tableau, etc) to be able to build the dashboards needed. Ideally, candidate would not be creating the dashboard/reports themselves but overseeing their implementation with guidelines, expertise/advise, troubleshooting, best practices.

We are a team new to Power BI and are seeking support from a consultant to help us establish a structured and scalable development lifecycle using CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment) practices.

1. Environment Architecture & Deployment Setup for Power BI Dashboards (9/30/25)

The Contractor shall design and implement, working with enterprise DevOps/Power BI administrators, a scalable and governed environment architecture to support the development, testing, and deployment of Power BI dashboards across development, staging, and production environments.

• Establish recommendation & documentation for deployment process across environments (e.g. manual vs automated, usage of version control - GitHub)
• Best practices for workspace management, source control, and security
• Training sessions for our team to understand and manage this process going forward

1. Establish Security/Design/Deployment/Naming Convention best practices (note-dashboard data source does not contain any PII)

5. Metadata and Report Documentation (e.g. recommending naming conventions, feedback on report/dataset descriptions/User Guide)
6. Deployment Best Practices (e.g. parameters for switching environments, version control, source management, dataset and refresh management)
7. Usage Monitoring & Auditing
8. Define Governance Roles & Ownership
