Job Summary

The Senior Cost Project Control Specialist supports the project execution team by overseeing comprehensive cost management for large-scale projects, ensuring financial accuracy, alignment with project objectives, and successful delivery within budget constraints.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor s degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. A Master s degree or professional certification (e.g., CCP, PMP, or equivalent) is preferred. Equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in cost management or project controls, with at least 1 year in a senior or lead role on large-scale projects.
  • Advanced proficiency in cost management software (e.g., Primavera, Procore, or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of project budgeting, forecasting, and EAC methodologies.
  • Expertise in change management processes and their impact on project costs.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard cost estimation and control practices.
  • Effective Communication: Ability to convey complex cost-related information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences, including technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Critical Thinking and Analysis: Strong problem-solving skills to analyze cost data, identify root causes of variances, and develop strategic solutions.
  • Relationship Building: Proven ability to foster trust and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, driving alignment and resolving conflicts diplomatically.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in cost-related discussions, fostering a culture of financial discipline and accountability.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders (e.g., project managers, engineers, procurement teams) and external partners (e.g., vendors, contractors) to ensure alignment on cost objectives.
  • Mentor and guide junior cost control staff, promoting best practices and professional development in cost management.

Cost Management

  • Estimate-to-Budget Conversion: Recast detailed project cost estimates into manageable, structured budgets, aligning with project scope, schedule, and resource requirements. Ensure budgets are practical, transparent, and optimized for financial control.
  • Commitment Execution and Management: Oversee the execution of financial commitments against approved budgets, including contracts, purchase orders, and vendor agreements. Monitor spending to ensure adherence to budgetary limits and project goals.
  • Change Management: Evaluate and manage the cost implications of project changes, including scope modifications, schedule adjustments, and unforeseen risks. Implement robust change control processes to maintain budget integrity and provide clear documentation of cost impacts.
  • Forecasting and Estimate at Completion (EAC) Management: Develop accurate cost forecasts and maintain up-to-date EAC projections based on project performance, trends, and risks. Proactively identify variances and recommend corrective actions to mitigate cost overruns.

Strategic and Analytical Responsibilities

  • Conduct critical analysis of cost data, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities to optimize project financial performance.
  • Provide actionable insights through detailed cost reports and presentations to support decision-making by project leadership and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with project teams to align cost management strategies with overall project objectives, ensuring financial transparency and accountability.
