Job Details

Job Title: Principal Cloud Engineer

Location: Washington, DC

Duration: 6 + Months with extensions

Required Qualifications, Skills, Experience or Certifications:
1. 12+ years experience in information technology WITH 8+ years of focused, HANDS ON experience deploying/configuring workloads within EITHER AWS or Azure preferred experience is DevOps focused
2. Experience designing and implementing cloud architectures
3. Good understanding of FedRAMP services and best practices for their consumption
4. Experience managing AWS Public and GovCloud across regions
5. Experience deploying stack sets and using AWS Control Tower
6. Strong knowledge of enterprise computing and operating systems such as Linux and Windows, and experience with troubleshooting
7. Proficiency in automating processes with Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Packer, PowerShell, or Python, including use of remote APIs
8. Demonstrated proficiency with implementing and managing AWS services via AWS Console or CLI of AWS accounts, IAM users, IAM roles, VPCs, and load balancers
9. Demonstrated understanding of cloud engineering methods, applications, and best practices across cloud service providers
10. Knowledge of Agile Project Management methodologies
11. Experience documenting requirements, user stories, and use cases
12. Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic, and team environment
13. Professional Architect Certification within EITHER AWS or Azure

Job Role Specific Requirements:
1. Producing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) or Configuration as Code (CaC), delivering solutions with a code first approach with sufficient comments and structure
2. Collaborating with engineering and development teams to evaluate and identify optimal cloud solutions
3. Diagnosing and resolving complex performance, security, and/or technical challenges
4. Supporting all tiers of applications deployed in the cloud, configuring network, cloud native services, infrastructure, and privileges for development teams
5. Identifying opportunities for optimizing cloud consumption by the agency and providing strategic direction for addressing those opportunities
6. Creating/updating cloud environment configurations to establish/support application workloads, including
a. Azure Focused: Configuration of Subscriptions, Resource Groups, VNets, Subnets, load balancers, App Services, Azure Batch, Virtual Machines, resource tagging, billing, policy implementation, and security controls
b. AWS Focused: Configuration of AWS Accounts, IAM Users and Roles, VPCs, subnets, load balancers, Network routes, Transit Gateway, Control Tower, Systems Manager, Config Manager, stack sets, WAF, CloudFront, and Route53
