Job Details

Job Duties Summary: The successful candidate is responsible for the engineering and hands-on implementation of contract requirements including design and integration of subsystems, radio-telephone communications elements, and local network infrastructure to ensure technical compliance and performance to project schedules and budgets. Leads and performs detailed engineering tasks, documents processes and results, interfaces with vendors, software and hardware engineers in coordination with Program Managers and customers supporting detailed system design, integration, acceptance testing and maintenance support.

Major Functional Areas and Description of Duties:

  • Acts in a lead project engineering position by heading the design and implementation of communication systems, hardware solutions, and network architectures that meet customer requirements.
  • Provides technical tasks and plans to program Manager and assists in creating and maintaining detailed project schedules.
  • Hands-on engineer responsible for proprietary telecommunications system specification, hardware engineering & integration, software installation, configuration and integration, and network configuration.
  • Creates system architecture and solution documentation based on customer requirements.
  • Conceives test methodologies to prove performance (e.g., timing, audio levels, network operation, etc.) of designed system solutions.
  • Manages engineering staff both technically and administratively to build a cohesive and efficient team.
  • Leads design reviews of systems and subsystems.
  • Monitors system performance and implements security measures, troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Creates and reviews technical documentation for engineering accuracy.
  • Primary technical interface for Program Manager and customer.
  • Interfaces with other company departments for total project success (e.g., test engineering, field engineering, production, program management and contracts).

Qualifications:

  • Experience creating highly available, mission critical system solutions from company proprietary and commercial components.
  • System engineering experience in telecommunications/telephony and radio communications systems and all related technologies (Analog, TDM, VoIP).
  • Experience in integrating IT system technologies (servers, routers, networks, operating systems).
  • Experience with operating systems including Linux, Windows Server, Windows 7/10
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical, and technical skills
  • 7-10 years experience designing, integrating, and deploying complex, integrated hardware and software systems.
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, Information Technology or equivalent experience with telecommunications and IT hardware and software.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Experience managing and leading hardware, software, test / integration engineers and support resources to achieve project technical and schedule / cost objectives.
  • Experience working with analog and digital telecommunications test tools (e.g., Transmission Test Sets, T1 Analyzers, Audio Analyzers)
  • Experience with network analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark)
  • Experience with bug-tracking systems (e.g., JIRA)
  • Experience with terminal emulators (e.g. Putty, Teratern, etc)
  • Experience with serial protocols (e.g RS232, etc)

Special Notations or Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be authorized to work in United States and obtain clearances to enter Government sites
  • Having or ability to obtain a Government issued security clearance
