Role Overview:
Client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Electrical Engineer with a valid Professional Engineer (P.Eng) license in Canada. The candidate will be responsible for delivering electrical engineering solutions for large-scale energy, petrochemical, and infrastructure projects across all project phases-from concept and FEED to detailed design, construction, and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and specify medium and low voltage power distribution systems, switchgear, MCCs, transformers, and protective relays.
- Prepare and review single-line diagrams (SLDs), load lists, cable schedules, grounding and lighting layouts, and power system studies.
- Develop technical specifications and datasheets for electrical equipment and support procurement activities.
- Perform power system analysis (load flow, short circuit, relay coordination, arc flash) using software such as ETAP, SKM, or EasyPower.
- Ensure all designs comply with applicable Canadian and international codes (CEC, CSA, IEEE, IEC, NEC).
- Interface with mechanical, process, civil/structural, and instrumentation teams for multi-discipline coordination.
- Support construction and commissioning with electrical field engineering input and problem resolution.
- Participate in FATs, SATs, inspections, and client design review meetings.
- Review vendor drawings and documentation, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance.
- Ensure health, safety, and environmental considerations are embedded in all aspects of design and implementation.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- P.Eng registration in Canada (e.g., PEO, APEGA, EGBC, or equivalent).
- 8 15 years of experience in electrical engineering for oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation, or industrial projects.
- Proficiency in Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and related standards (IEEE, CSA, API).
- Experience with power system analysis tools (e.g., ETAP, SKM, EasyPower).
- Proven experience in preparing design deliverables for FEED and EPC phases.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working on substations, motor control centres, UPS systems, and renewable energy integration.
- Familiarity with grid connection requirements and utility interfacing in Canada.
- Experience with instrumentation interface and hazardous area classification.
- Background in decarbonization or energy transition projects (e.g., carbon capture, hydrogen, renewables).
- Exposure to modular or skid-based design projects.
