Job Title: Vital Records Database Management System Support Specialist
Position Type: Contract
Location: Jackson, MS
Job Summary:
The Vital Records Database Management System Support Specialist will provide technical and training support for the new vital records database management system. This role involves assisting internal staff and external stakeholders (hospitals, funeral homes, coroners, hospices, and nursing homes) in system usage, troubleshooting issues, and supporting data modernization efforts. The specialist will ensure smooth system operations, enhance business processes, and facilitate data exchange with state and federal partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Support & Training:
- Learn and maintain expertise in the vital records database management system.
- Provide help desk support via phone, email, and online requests for system-related assistance.
- Conduct training sessions for hospitals, funeral homes, coroners, hospices, and nursing homes on system usage.
- Offer technical guidance to Vital Records staff on system functionality and data management.
- Technical & Data Modernization Support:
- Assist in interoperability projects and data modernization initiatives.
- Support the development and maintenance of improved Vital Records business processes.
- Facilitate secure and accurate data transfers to state and federal agencies.
- Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Work closely with IT teams and agency staff to enhance system performance.
- Communicate effectively with external partners to resolve technical issues and improve system adoption.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Technical Expertise:
- Advanced proficiency in Windows 10.
- Intermediate experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) Systems.
- Basic knowledge of SQL and Crystal Reports (preferred).
- Familiarity with DevOps and FHIR standards (preferred).
- Experience & Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of help desk or IT technical support experience.
- Ability to train and support non-technical users.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
