Artificial Intelligence (AI) Engineer

Evolver Federal is seeking a skilled and versatile AI Engineer to support a federal customer by designing, developing, and deploying intelligent systems and applications. The successful candidate will combine deep AI/ML knowledge with full-stack engineering expertise to deliver scalable, real-world solutions that increase operational efficiency, enhance productivity, and reduce costs. This role will focus on the end-to-end development of AI-enabled platforms-from data ingestion and model training to secure backend APIs and modern frontend interfaces.

Clearance Requirement: U.S. Citizenship required; ability to obtain DHS-specific clearance

Responsibilities

• Design and implement machine learning models, from data preprocessing to model validation and deployment.
• Build scalable backend systems using Rust for secure and high-performance AI/ML service delivery.
• Develop responsive and intuitive frontend applications using React.
• Create and deploy robust RESTful and GraphQL APIs to integrate AI models with user interfaces and enterprise systems.
• Build, query, and visualize graph-based datasets using Neo4j and GraphQL.
• Manage relational data systems using PostgreSQL, including schema design, optimization, and deployment in containerized environments.
• Deploy and manage containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes (AWS EKS).
• Utilize AWS services, particularly Kinesis, S3, and IAM, for scalable cloud-based deployments.
• Apply statistical analysis and performance monitoring to AI solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver business-driven recommendations based on data insights.

Basic Qualifications

• U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain DHS-specific clearance
• Bachelor's degree in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or related field
• 5 years of experience with AI/ML development using frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, XGBoost, Hugging Face Transformers
• 5 years of experience with Programming languages: Python, Java, R, C++, JavaScript
• 5 years of experience with Data modeling and big data technologies: SQL, NoSQL, SparkSQL, Apache Spark, PySpark, Hadoop, Apache Flink
• 5 years of experience with AI Security practices and secure AI system development
• 3 years of experience with Cloud platforms: AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure
• 3 years of experience Docker and Kubernetes, particularly in cloud environments like AWS EKS
• 2 years of experience with cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST 800-53, SANS Top 20, or OWASP Top 10

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in AI, Machine Learning, Computer Science, or a related field
• Rust backend development experience for building scalable and secure systems
• Advanced React expertise for frontend development
• Experience with Neo4j, GraphQL, and knowledge graphs
• Experience with vector databases, embeddings, and LLMs (e.g., GPT, BERT)
• Familiarity with container orchestration best practices, CI/CD, and monitoring tools
• Strong critical thinking and communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Ability to synthesize data insights into actionable business recommendations that increase ROI
