Job Description:

Position Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Project Manager to lead a major IT transformation initiative for a large manufacturer in Boise, ID . This role is the first step in building out a formal Project Management Office and will play a critical part in shaping the future of our client's IT environment.

This is a contract/contract-to-hire position (6-12 months), onsite in Boise, ID, with flexibility for one remote day per week once established.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead planning, execution, and delivery of a large-scale IT overhaul initiative.
  • Partner closely with the CTO, infrastructure leadership and external consultants to define scope, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Manage mid-to-large scale projects with complex dependencies across corporate IT and operational technology.
  • Support the development of a 5-year technology roadmap, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Establish project management best practices to lay the foundation for a future PMO.
  • Provide clear communication and reporting to executives and stakeholders.
  • Identify risks, propose mitigation strategies, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Qualifications
  • 7+ years of project management experience, with proven success managing mid-to-large scale IT projects.
  • PMP certification required.
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, networking, and enterprise systems.
  • Experience working with vendors and consultants in complex technology transitions.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment with evolving project definitions.

Technical Environment
  • Predominantly Windows-based infrastructure with some Linux and AS/400.
  • On-premises systems AWS Route 53 DNS
  • MS Azure, Active Directory, Intune

Nice-to-Haves
  • Strong familiarity with Windows environments.
  • Microsoft 365
  • Ability to ask the right technical questions and engage effectively with IT teams.
  • Experience in environments transitioning from on-prem to cloud.

Work Environment
  • Onsite in Boise, ID (5 days per week), with flexibility for one remote day once established.
