System Engineer SCCM/JAMF
Duration: 3-6+ months

SUMMARY: Dedicated System Engineer SCCM/JAMF to be Primarily responsible for all patching for staff and faculty computers. This position creates, tests, implements and troubleshoots all monthly patching. The SCCM/Jamf Engineer will be responsible for software distribution and patch management as well as building and deploying software packages to workstations. The selected candidate will provide administration support for software package development and configuration management and will research and evaluate software and hardware technologies.

Desktop technician: Responsible for new installs, peripherals and software. Troubleshoots supported campus software; assists with multiple computer platforms; and assists with maintaining user account information including rights, security and systems groups. Provides exceptional customer service to our faculty and staff. This position will provide technical support at special events as needed.

UNUSUAL WORK CONDITIONS: Lifting computer boxes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Manage and monitor all security patching, including configurations, testing, and maintenance
Implement and maintain backups, security, and redundancy strategies
Identify potential issues and integrate possible solutions
Craft custom scripts, reducing requirement of human interaction
Enable faster and smarter business processes and implement analytics for meaningful
Engage with upper management regularly with reports on patching status activities, and achievements
Routinely test software for bugs, redundancies, and security issues
Timely reporting on the log sheet for the rapid response to any glitches
The SCCM Engineer (Software Packaging) will perform Release and Deployment of patching packages
Desktop Technician 25%
Maintains, analyzes, troubleshoots and repairs computer systems, hardware, computer peripherals for both Macintosh and Windows
Documents, maintains, upgrades or replaces hardware and software systems. This involves:
Assisting with multiple computer platforms such as Windows and Mac.
Maintaining user account information including rights, security and systems groups.
Communicates innovations and current issues for support resolution.
Provides support to end users on a variety of issues. This involves:
Identifying, researching and resolving technical problems.
Responding to telephone calls, emails and staff/faculty requests for technical support.
Tracking and monitoring the problem to insure a timely resolution.
Installing new computers, software and peripherals.
Participates in the growth and development of the department. This involves:
Attending departmental staff meetings as requested.
Communicating effectively with supervisor concerning pertinent departmental and university matters.
Promoting an image of efficiency and courtesy throughout the university community that is consistent with the department's mission.
Promotes safe and secure working conditions. This involves:
Promoting the proper utilization of equipment and materials.
Notifying supervisor immediately of any unsafe working conditions.
Performs other related duties as directed by manager.
Working knowledge of ticket systems. Office Suite including email. Excel and Word.

EXPERIENCE:
3-5 years of experience in a technical field
Bachelor's degree or applicable work experience

Certificates in technical field and both Mac and Windows platform knowledge a plus
