Job Summary
General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer to join our UA Army PE group. In this position you will work in the Payloads and Weapons Systems Project Engineering Group to system integrations on Unmanned Aircraft (UA) programs.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead or support efforts performing integration, verification and/or validation of payload and weapon systems on GA-ASI's UA programs
Develop program plans, estimates, and schedules
Develop system/architecture designs, perform system level analysis, and generate requirements
Troubleshoot conflicting design/development requirements
Develop and present technical material for reviews and meetings
Support lab, ground, and flight test events
Develop/maintain Interface Control Documents, Software Requirement Specifications, Performance Specifications, presentations and review test plans/procedures
Coordinate and interface with customers, contractors, and engineering groups assigned to projects
Support ongoing operation of the payload and weapons systems
Provide support for proposals/white papers for future efforts or capabilities
Provide oversight, coordination, and direction to design or technical staff

Job Qualifications
- Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; nine or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, seven or more years of experience with a masters degree, or four or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
- Demonstrates an extensive technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice with the ability to organize, plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones with some experience in project leadership.
- Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required enabling an effective interface with other departments and/or professionals, and capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact, as well as providing leadership and guidance to less experienced professionals.
- Customer focused, formulates plans based on the development of innovative new designs in resolving advanced technical engineering problems.
- Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Able to work extended hours as required.
- Ability to travel to support program and test events (up to 25%)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance is required
- Experience integrating and testing weapons, payloads, or avionics onto aircraft
- Experience with EO/IR, Radar, COMINT/SIGINT, EW or weapons systems
- Familiarity with Networking, MIL-STD-1553, RS-422 and logical Interface Control Documents
- Software programming or embedded systems experience (familiarity with C++, MATLAB, Python, PERL scripting, etc.)
- Candidate ideally also has previous project management experience
