Location: Remote (Preferred: Mid-Atlantic Region - Greater Philadelphia, South Jersey, Delaware, MD, DC, VA)

About the Role

We are seeking a Control Room & Technical Systems Architect to join a leading enterprise energy company's Real-Time Systems group. This is a high-impact, enterprise-level role supporting the integration and modernization of control room technologies across multiple utility operations.
This position offers the opportunity to work directly with senior leadership and contribute to mission-critical infrastructure projects. The team has a strong track record of internal growth and advancement.

Primary Projects

  • Distribution Operations Control Center Redesign (Baltimore):
  • Integrate ADMS with video wall and A/V solutions.
  • Establish a new real-time network infrastructure.
  • Transmission Control Room Redesign (Baltimore):
  • Integrate EMS with updated video wall and A/V systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end solution architecture for control room redesigns, including video walls, A/V systems, and real-time IT systems.
  • Oversee integration of new applications, systems, and security technologies across multiple utilities.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal governance processes.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to validate and approve architectural solutions.
  • Supervise a team of 5 Architects and coordinate across multiple technical domains.

Primary Duties and Accountabilities

As the Control Room & Technical Systems Architect, you will:
  • Provide strategic technical leadership by identifying and implementing Real-Time technology solutions that support both development and production environments.
  • Design and document solution architectures using enterprise-wide frameworks and standards, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical requirements.
  • Advise senior IT leadership on technology planning and innovation to support Real-Time operational strategies.
  • Foster strong relationships across IT and business teams, ensuring clear communication and alignment throughout project lifecycles.
  • Stay ahead of emerging technologies, evaluating their potential impact and recommending innovative approaches to enhance system performance and reliability.
  • Lead and mentor a team of Senior IT Architects, supporting their professional development and ensuring high-quality architectural deliverables.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline, with 8-10 years of diverse IT experience focused on system solutioning, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong technical skills in systems design, integration, security, networking, and infrastructure.
  • In-depth knowledge of Real-Time System applications (e.g., SCADA, Outage Management, Historian).
  • Proven ability to produce business cases and manage change associated with new technology implementations.
  • Demonstrated leadership, sound judgment, and strong analytical and consulting skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work across all levels of IT and business.
  • Experience designing solution architectures aligned with business and enterprise standards.
  • Quick learner with the ability to apply new concepts and think strategically.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in Real-Time Systems architecture (e.g., SCADA, Outage Management, Historian).
  • Deep technical expertise in Real-Time systems design, integration, security, networking, and infrastructure.

Job Scope

  • Maintain deep knowledge of Real-Time technologies and their application across the organization.
  • Lead development of solution architecture deliverables using enterprise standards.
  • Apply relevant theories and practices to align technology with business needs.
  • Operate independently with minimal supervision.
  • Manage Sr. IT Architect direct reports.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $90.00/hr.
