Collins Aerospace has the capabilities, comprehensive portfolio, and expertise to solve customers' toughest challenges and to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving global market.

The role of the Design Analyst / Checker in the GTS MCAD group is to review 3D models and 2D documentation for adherence to the appropriate industry standards and company requirements. This is a skilled position that requires the ability to critically evaluate 3D models and 2D drawings for dimensional accuracy and manufacturability. This evaluation can also include geometric analysis of parts and assembly models within the context of design requirements, implied manufacturing methods and producibility guidelines. The checker will work closely with, and provide guidance to, designers, detailers and engineering through the evolution of the design. Checkers are required to create, maintain, and properly preserve documentation of the checking process.

What You Will Do:
  • Review models and drawings for accuracy, proper dimensioning scheme, correct application of GD&T, and compliance with relevant Collins and industry standards
  • Perform tolerance stack-up analysis to ensure intended form and fit of complex parts and assemblies prior to production release and in support of product failure investigations
  • Provide guidance to designers and detailers as needed in the completion of models and drawings for both new designs and engineering changes
  • Validate the manufacturability of designs and that relevant design requirements have been met
  • Document and properly file documentation of the analysis and checking process
  • Collaboration with cross functional teams as a SME in various engineering reviews
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain high levels of accuracy, especially when under pressure
  • Conferring with engineering to resolve drawing and design discrepancies
  • Train/mentor other checkers, designers and engineers on process, proper mark-up capture and documentation standards
  • Must be willing and able to travel up to 5% of the time

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Typically requires an AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience. Certification may be required for technical support roles
  • 2+ years experience as a CAD or engineering drawing checker OR 10+ years of design/drafting experience

Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Ability to communicate and present to all levels of the organization
  • Experience working with NX and SolidWorks
  • Experience with Collins Aerospace drafting standards as defined in the Product Definition Data Base and ASME Y14.41 Digital Product Definition Data Practices.
