Description
We are looking for an experienced RPG Developer to join our team in the Des Moines Metro. As part of this long-term contract position, you will play a pivotal role in developing, troubleshooting, and maintaining RPG-based applications while collaborating with stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions. This role requires a balance of technical expertise and strong communication skills to ensure seamless project execution and client satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
Develop, test, and maintain RPG-based applications, ensuring functionality and performance meet business needs.
Collaborate with business partners to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues in RPG, DB2, and related systems, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
Document processes, workflows, and solutions to ensure clarity and consistency in project deliverables.
Work closely with team members to delegate tasks effectively and ensure project milestones are achieved.
Provide exceptional support to end-users, addressing inquiries and resolving technical challenges.
Adapt to different versions of RPG, leveraging knowledge to optimize code across platforms.
Conduct technical reviews and ensure quality assurance, despite the absence of a dedicated QA team.
Communicate effectively with stakeholders to align technical solutions with business objectives.
Take ownership of projects from start to finish, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results.
Requirements
Minimum of 10 years of experience in RPG development, including proficiency with RPG III, RPG IV, RPG Free, RPGLE, and SQLRPGLE.
Strong knowledge of DB2 and the ability to troubleshoot and optimize database-related code.
Experience with C#, .NET, ASP.NET, JavaScript, and React.js is a plus.
Proven ability to work with multiple versions of RPG and adapt to diverse coding environments.
Excellent communication skills to gather requirements and collaborate effectively with business partners.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment, demonstrating leadership and delegation skills.
Strong problem-solving capabilities and the ability to manage projects from initiation to completion.
Familiarity with IBM RPG systems and related tools, ensuring seamless integration and functionality.
