RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Alexandria, VA that is seeking a Mid-Level Network Engineer.
Responsibilities:
* Design robust and scalable hybrid network architectures integrating cloud (AWS, Azure, etc.) and on-premises systems
* Define routing, segmentation, and transport solutions aligned with DoD cybersecurity policies and Zero Trust principles
* Recommend and implement network optimizations to ensure high availability, redundancy, and performance
* Deploy networking equipment (routers, switches, firewalls, VPN concentrators, etc.) and virtual network appliances across classified and unclassified environments
* Support infrastructure-as-code for cloud networking deployments using tools like Terraform or AWS CloudFormation
* Integrate and troubleshoot secure communications over classified networks (e.g., SIPRNet, JWICS)
* Work closely with cybersecurity, cloud, and DevSecOps teams to ensure secure network integration and compliance
* Provide Tier II/III support for network issues, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders as needed
* Participate in system accreditation and cybersecurity assessments including CCRIs and RMF evaluations
* Perform network monitoring, diagnostics, patching, and incident response in accordance with DoD RMF and STIG compliance
* Maintain network documentation including topology diagrams, IP plans, and configuration baselines
* Implement and manage network security controls including firewalls, access control lists (ACLs), and intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS)
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
* DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CySA+)
* 5 years of experience in network engineering or implementation roles with a focus on voice, video, and infrastructures in secure DoD environments
* Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
