Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
  • Familiarity with information security concepts.
  • Pursuing or completion of a security-centric certification, such as Security+ or Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH).

Job Summary

Supports the planning, designing, and building of security architectures for the organization. Assists with the implementation of network and computer security and ensures compliance with information security policies and procedures.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities
  • Monitors cybersecurity requirements for network, system, and/or application technologies.
  • Creates project plans for information security projects, including determining project requirements, deliverables, resources, timing, and risks.
  • Performs security assessments of applications and systems using penetration and vulnerability testing.
  • Configures and installs security technologies, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and access controls.
  • Performs daily reviews of operating system and network changes and works with system engineers to deploy patches and address vulnerabilities.
  • Maintains security-related servers, including updating packages and applications on security servers.
  • Assists with the management of security objects, including SSL Certificates, PGP and private keys, system passwords, anti-virus applications, spyware and malware solutions, and identity management.

Nature and Scope
  • Works in compliance with established procedures and/or protocols. Identifies and resolves readily identifiable, clearly defined problems. Demonstrates skill in data analysis and techniques by resolving missing/incomplete information and inconsistencies/anomalies in routine research/data.
  • Nature of work requires general supervision; exercises judgment. May be paired with a mentor. Work typically involves regular process checks or review of output by a coworker and/or supervisor.
  • May provide general guidance/direction to or train junior level support personnel.

Work Environment
  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience
  • Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Certification may be required in some areas. Generally 0-2 years of experience in a related field OR MS/MA and generally 0-1 year of experience in a related field.
