Overview:
Client has an opportunity for a talented Jira Subject Matter Expert to join their team on an exciting project in the Financial Services Industry.
We are driving agilization across our technology landscape and are seeking a seasoned Jira Engineer to support our agile transformation journey. This is a remote contract role within a dynamic project team modernizing delivery and tracking mechanisms.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement complex Jira dashboards, leveraging JQL and scripting tools (e.g., ScriptRunner) for advanced reporting.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and Engineers to automate workflows and optimize Jira usage across agile teams.
- Develop custom fields, filters, and views that reflect program-level delivery metrics (velocity, throughput, lead time).
- Support integration of Jira with other tools (e.g., Confluence, Bitbucket, Jenkins).
- Translate business KPIs into visual reports and enable scalable tracking methods.
- Proactively identify and resolve inefficiencies within Jira board configurations or agile workflows.
Core Requirements:
- 10 years of overall experience, banking industry specific
- Strong Jira Expertise (Configuration & Administration)
- 5 7 years of hands-on experience configuring Jira projects, workflows, custom fields, screens, and permissions.
- Proficiency in JQL & Advanced Dashboards
- In-depth ability to write complex JQL queries and build dynamic dashboards that support Agile metrics (velocity, burndown, throughput, cycle time).
- Scripting Experience (ScriptRunner or Equivalent)
- Experience creating Jira automation, validators, conditions, and scripted fields using tools like ScriptRunner or Automation for Jira.
- Agile Methodology Understanding
- Solid grasp of Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe frameworks, with a proven track record of supporting Agile delivery in Jira for cross-functional teams.
- Banking/Financial Domain Experience (Preferred)
- Prior exposure to Agile transformation or tracking in regulated, large-scale environments (e.g., banks or financial services firms).
- Advanced JQL & Scripting: Strong skills in JQL for reporting and dashboarding; proficient with ScriptRunner or Jira Automation for custom functions.
- Tool Integrations: Proven experience integrating Jira with GitHub, OpenShift (CaaS), Jenkins, Bitbucket, and Confluence to support CI/CD visibility.
- Agile Delivery Support: Solid understanding of Scrum, Kanban, SAFe frameworks; able to translate Agile metrics (velocity, lead time, burndown) into actionable dashboards.
- Banking/Enterprise Experience: Prior work in banking or regulated enterprises; comfortable aligning Jira structures with governance and compliance needs.
Preferred Background: Degree in CS/IT, certifications like SAFe Agilist; strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement in distributed team setups.

Required Skills:
