Description

As an Engineer-In-Training for Structures, you will work on challenging assignments, including designing, evaluating, and analyzing highway bridges.
What are the core responsibilities for the role?
- Perform bridge designs and load ratings using spreadsheets, finite element software and/or other bridge software
- Evaluate project location conditions, prepare structure type selection recommendations, cost estimates, and specifications for highway bridges and structures
- Prepare all calculations, construction specifications, and recommendations according to latest design specifications and local agency standards
- Develop inter-disciplinary relationships within Horrocks while providing structures specific support on transportation projects
- Maintain effective communications with clients and project teams
- Prepare structural details and clearly communicate with CAD team members
- Balance and track multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
- Proactively communicate within the structures and project teams using latest communication platforms
- Support structures projects across all Horrocks locations across several states
Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:
- Undergraduate or graduate degree from accredited program in civil/structural engineering
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate
- 0-4 years' experience in Structural Engineering
- Ability to take direction and work independently as well as effectively collaborate with teams
- Knowledgeable in standard CAD and structural software products (OpenRoads, OpenBridge, Civil 3D etc)
- Knowledgeable in structural design codes (AASHTO LRFD, AISC, ACI, AREMA, etc.)
- Strong verbal, written and presentation skills
- Good technical writing skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
