Role: Akamai Engineer
Location: Springfield, MO (Remote)
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Software Development: Design, develop, test, and deploy new features and functionality.
- Component Ownership: Take responsibility for one or more components within Akamai's Web Security platform.
- Network & Protocol Expertise: Demonstrate deep understanding of internet protocols (TCP/UDP, TLS/DTLS, HTTP) and network layers.
- Operational Mindset: Embrace a "service always available" philosophy through resilient software design and operational awareness.
- Problem-Solving: Collaborate with internal teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex customer-facing network issues.
- Cloud Native Applications: Work with and deploy cloud-native constructs and technologies.
Key Skills & Experience
- Programming Languages: Proficiency in C++ and C.
- Unix/Linux Environment: Strong experience developing and coding within a Unix/Linux environment.
- Networking Fundamentals: Well-versed in how the internet works, including routing, TCP/UDP, TLS/DTLS, and HTTP.
- Agile & SDLC: Experience with the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Cloud Technologies: Familiarity with cloud-native concepts and deployments.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze and solve complex technical problems
