Job Description:

  • Lab and Space inventory manager with an Engineering background
  • This role combines expertise in laboratory management and space planning with a strong engineering foundation to ensure efficient operations, optimize resource utilization and support innovation within a technical environment
  • Inventory Management:
    • Oversee the entire lifecycle of lab materials, chemicals, components, and equipment, from procurement and receiving to storage, distribution, and disposal.
    • Develop and implement efficient inventory control systems, including tracking software, barcoding, and cycle counting to maintain accurate stock levels and minimize waste.
    • Monitor inventory levels, anticipate future needs, and collaborate with engineering and research teams to ensure timely availability of materials for projects and production.
    • Manage supplier relationships and negotiate favorable contracts for lab supplies and equipment.
  • Space Planning and Optimization:
    • Develop and implement strategies for optimal space allocation and utilization within laboratories and other technical areas.
    • Coordinate with engineering and facilities teams to design and reconfigure workspaces to enhance efficiency, safety, and workflow.
    • Manage equipment layout, storage solutions, and ergonomic considerations to create a productive and safe working environment.
    • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a well-organized and functional workspace.
  • Engineering Lab Support:
    • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for laboratory equipment and systems, including instrumentation, automation, and embedded systems.
    • Collaborate with engineers and researchers to support hardware setups, testing, and experimental procedures.
    • Assist in training team members on equipment usage, safety protocols, and inventory systems.
  • Documentation and Compliance:
    • Maintain meticulous records of inventory, equipment maintenance, calibration schedules, and safety inspections.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and safety standards
    • Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for inventory control, equipment operation, and safety procedures.
  • Communication and Collaboration:
    • Effectively communicate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, research, procurement, and production, to coordinate activities and ensure material availability.
    • Serve as a liaison between different departments to address facility and inventory needs and resolve any issues impacting projects.
    • Provide regular updates and reports to senior leadership on inventory levels, operational efficiency, and space utilization.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in logistics or inventory management.
  • At least 3 years specifically in a laboratory or technical environment (e.g., engineering lab).
  • Demonstrated expertise in inventory control systems, space planning, and laboratory operations.

Skills:

  • Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and team leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance standards.
