Job Title: Mainframe Developer

Location: Columbus, OH (Hybrid)

Employment Type: W2 Only (No C2C/1099)

Duration: 12+ Months

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Mainframe Developer to design, develop, and maintain mainframe applications that support critical business processes. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in COBOL programming, JCL scripting, and mainframe tools, along with experience in performance optimization and troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, and related technologies.
  • Work with CICS for transaction processing and DB2 for database management.
  • Utilize Endevor for source code management and deployment.
  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Perform unit testing, integration testing, and debugging of mainframe programs.
  • Optimize performance and ensure reliability of mainframe systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support application development and maintenance.
  • Provide production support, troubleshoot issues, and implement fixes promptly.

Required Skills

  • 12+ years of experience in mainframe development.
  • Relevant certifications in mainframe technologies are a plus.
  • Strong experience in COBOL programming and JCL scripting.
  • Hands-on experience with CICS, DB2, and VSAM.
  • Familiarity with Endevor for version control and deployment.
  • Knowledge of Z/OS operating system and mainframe architecture.
  • Understanding of batch and online processing.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work in Agile or Waterfall environments.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with performance tuning and mainframe modernization initiatives.
  • Knowledge of Rexx, Assembler, or other mainframe utilities.
  • Familiarity with testing tools and automation frameworks for mainframe.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
