Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Mainframe Application Support Engineer to support enterprise content management systems for a major client in North America. This role is critical to maintaining and enhancing key mainframe-based applications, with a focus on operational support, incident resolution, documentation, and project execution.
The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in COBOL development, mainframe utilities, and document management platforms such as CMOD and Mobius, along with a proactive approach to system integrity and process improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor system performance and proactively address issues across CMOD and Mobius applications.
- Maintain and enhance technical documentation; identify gaps and ensure materials are current and well-organized.
- Troubleshoot and resolve incidents and recurring problems efficiently.
- Contribute to system enhancements and participate in large-scale project implementations.
- Provide support for service requests, infrastructure changes, and break-fix activities.
- Enforce existing standards and propose improvements to streamline onboarding and maintain system integrity.
Mandatory Skillsets:
Mainframe Development & Operations:
- CMOD development/administration
- COBOL programming
- JCL (Job Control Language)
- MVS utilities (e.g., SORT, IEBGENER, IEBCOPY)
- TSO
- IOF or similar tools (e.g., SDSF)
- DB2/SQL with tools like SPUFI or QMF
CMOD (Content Manager OnDemand):
- Experience with CMOD development or administration
- Understanding of CMOD object types and report definitions
- Proficiency with CMOD utilities (e.g., ARSDOC, ARSLOAD, ARSADMIN)
System Tools & Utilities:
- Shell scripting
- OMVS/USS/ISH (Unix System Services on Mainframe)
- DB2/VSAM utilities (e.g., ADTOOLS, File-AID)
- Mainframe job scheduling tools (e.g., CA-7, Control-M)
- Basic Knowledge: OAM
Nice-to-Have Skillsets:
- Experience with Mobius document management system
- REXX scripting
- SAS programming
- Java or C programming experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in mainframe application support or development
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Work Environment:
- This role is Remote in USA.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United stated without requiring sponsorship now or in the future
