Field Service Testing & Engineering Technician (NETA Certified)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated Field Service Testing & Engineering Technician with a solid foundation in low voltage electrical testing, a NETA certification, and a passion for fieldwork. This hands-on position is ideal for individuals who thrive in diverse environments, are confident working with critical utility systems, and enjoy traveling across the southern region of the U.S.
The ideal candidate will have a background in low voltage circuit testing, PLC panel work, breaker and relay diagnostics, and transformer power testing (up to 500kV). You'll be the boots on the ground, servicing industrial, commercial, and institutional clients with professionalism and technical accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive electrical testing and troubleshooting on low voltage systems, transformers, and electrical protection equipment.
Conduct breaker, relay, wafer resistance, and power transformer testing using industry-standard tools and procedures.
Install and test PLC control panels and associated components.
Interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and reports to diagnose electrical issues.
Apply and demonstrate understanding of Ohm's Law and related electrical theory in real-world scenarios.
Travel for field assignments (3-4 weeks at a time); majority of jobs located in Texas, but occasional travel across Arkansas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma.
Ensure full compliance with company, client, and OSHA safety standards.
Accurately document and report test results and service summaries through digital platforms (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).
Serve as a reliable and customer-facing representative of the company at client sites.
Collaborate with internal teams to communicate site conditions, escalate issues, and ensure project success.
Qualifications
NETA certification (Required)
High School diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in electrical or mechanical fields preferred.
State Certified Journeyman license is a strong asset.
Solid understanding of low voltage electrical systems and the National Electrical Code (NEC).
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (required for use of company vehicle).
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in a variety of weather and site conditions.
Willingness to travel extensively and stay on-site for multi-week assignments.
Strong attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
Proficiency in mobile applications, report writing, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
